IPL’s youngsters

A lot has already been written and said about many aspects of IPL. The money drawn in in the tournament, the overseas players who are involved, the sixes that are being struck, the pitiful condition of the bowlers, the slap-gate episode, etc. But IPL was also considered to be a platform for the young Indian players to showcase their talents. For many it was their sole opportunity to play alongside some of the game's greatest. A lot of them have risen to the occasion and shown real promise. Here's a list of players who have made some name for themselves:

Kolkata Knight Riders

  1. Ashok Dinda : He has been one of the main bowlers for KKR's. He has bowled good line and length and with good pace.

Chennai Super Kings

1. M Gony : He is the best of the lot amongst the youngsters that are playing in India. Is also the leading wicket taker in IPL.

  1. S Badrinath : With the presence of Hayden and Hussey he has not got much chance in the middle. Played very well in the first innings that he played against Punjab

Kings XI Punjab

  1. Karan Goel : With the likes of Yuvi, Sanga and Hopes in the team, he is making quite a mark.
  2. VRV Singh : Was not there in the first couple of matches. Bowled well against D3.

Delhi DareDevils

  1. Shikhar Dhawan : Is the opener for Delhi. Has been one of the pillars of D3 batting. Has played well most of the times he has been out there.
  2. Rajat Bhatia : Is more than a useful bowler. Presence of McGrath is also helping him a lot
  3. Yo Mahesh : Another bowler who is doing well with the help of McGrath.

Rajasthan Royals

  1. Dinesh Salunke : A good leg spinner with a good temperament. Doing well under the guidance of Warne.
  2. Yousuf Pathan : Is a good hitter of the ball. Can bowl useful off spin as well.
  3. Ravindra Jadeja : A good and intelligent hitter. His fielding is amazing.
  4. Swapnil Asnodkar : Has played only one innings. Looks a very good hitter.
  5. Siddharth Trivedi : Bowled well against the KKR's today. Still has to prove himself.

Royal Challengers Bangalore

  1. Virat Kohli : Under-19 captain. Good Batsman and an amazing fielder.

Mumbai Indians

  1. Dhaval Kulkarni : Bowled well under pressure situation. His plus is his temperament.
  2. Abhishek Nayar : A very good hitter of the ball. Has played couple of good innings.

Most of these players are playing for the first time along with the international players. They have shown good temperament and have played well under pressure. Their performance should make the selectors have a look at them soon. It's nice to see Indian team having so many choices in all departments.

one more positive fallout of IPL. I admit I didn't know about some of the players who look quite promising.

I would add Laxmi Ratan Shukla to that list as well. He's done very well for KKR.

Plus Suresh Raina and Rohit Sharma. India's future definitely.

SP, after the T20 world cup I thought the same about Sharma. I believe he will be India's permanent number 4 throughout the 2010s...

Yes Q,
Laxmi has performed well so has Sharma and Raina. I wanted to point out the players who have not played for India much. Sharma is now a certainty in the Indian team. Raina also deserves a call back
