The test didn't start too well for India. Losing the hero of the last test only after 3 balls was quite a huge setback. Then in came the batsman for whom a situation like this is a daily routine. For he has come in a similar situation more times than he himself can remember. In came the "wall" of Indian cricket.
He has many times come in when India were 2 down in the first few overs. But in recent times that second wicket was his.
But on this day at Mohali, he had to play like he used to. The Indian team wanted a big innings from him. His supporters needed it. His country needed it. But more than anyone he needed it himself. And how he delivered.
His 136 may not be one of his best. It may not be one of his most flamboyant. Not one where he has looked completely dominating and in control. It was one of those scratchy innings where going was tough. The conditions were tough. Runs were not easy to come. But he stood there. He waited and waited and waited even more. Finally the runs came. The timing came back. The shots came back. And the smile came back too.
Welcome back Rahul... Welcome back among the runs....
I have had enough

7 Strokes:
A relief for Rahul but he should make this count for the future matches. He should still consider himself on the life-line.
I liked what he had to say post-match... no excuses and straight to the point.
A huge monkey off his back, Dravid looked uncharacteristically relaxed today, something we have not seen before. It was great to see the man finally at peace with himself.
Scorpi,
His place in the team is still not confirmed. He needs to be consistent like he has been. But yes, he will be the most relieved man today.
Som,
Yes a huge monkey off his back. And it was definitely great to see his smile back. But he needs to be consistent now.
He has been back and back for good....
Agree with scorpi on his last statement :)
Sam,
i hope the same too.
