Mumbai Indians Vs Deccan Chargers

It was Mumbai Indians Vs Deccan Chargers today at IPL.

Deccan batted first & what a start they had. Adam Gilchrist is in some form. He is playing as if he never ever retired. He has given fantastic starts in all the 3 games that they have played. Giving him good support is the Saffer Gibbs. After the start, they were looking good to reach 180-190 runs in their 20 overs. However, a good last few overs by Mumbai Indians and a few foolish incidents by Deccan Chargers restricted them to 168. However, a target of 169 was always a good target to defend, esp if you can take few early wickets.

Mumbai had a bad start losing Jayasurya for only 1 run. But Tendulkar & JP played well and brought Mumbai back into the game... Though only till the strategic time out. Tendulkar who was looking awesome till the break was the first victim. After he went MI never looked like winning again. One after another each of their wickets kept falling. There was some hope for them when Bhajji tried to hit some over the ropes. But that was too late and too little. Finally MI fell 12 runs short.

I think it was not so much about the deccan bowling which brought about the downfall of MI. But it was the 7 and a half minute break which was the main culprit... Sachin & JP were going great guns when the break happened. They were going at just the right pace. But what a timing for the break. Sachin goes only 4 balls after the break. And others follow. But then thats the new thing about IPL-2.. Can'e help it. Its Mr. Modi's idea and nothing can be done about it. Just hope that ICC doesn't include this in their rules.
